What are Self-Directed Services?

Self-directed services is a service model for paying people to provide individuals the help they need and pay for equipment, supplies, and technologies that help them manage better in their home.  The model gives individuals the choice, freedom, flexibility, and control over their workers and financial resources in order to develop and direct their individualized services and support.  Individuals who pay privately for non-agency workers to come into their home to provide them the help they need are using a version of this model.
